How the fields of Russian documents are translated

On the left - the field as printed on the Russian form, on the right - the wording from the translation templates the community uses. Nine documents: birth, marriage and divorce certificates, diplomas, the internal passport, the police certificate and two income certificates.

Seals, signatures, dates

• A signature goes in brackets or slashes: (signature), /signature/.
• A seal is described with its text: "Seal: ...", "Round official stamp: ...", "Coat-of-arms seal: ...".
• Dates printed in figures and in words are translated both ways.
• The captions under the fields ("surname", "name, patronymic", "name of the Registry office") are translated as separate lines.

Translator certificate: two texts from the templates

The USCIS rule 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requires the translator to certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that they are competent to translate from the language into English. The full text names both conditions; the short one under the Russian templates does not contain the words "complete" and "competent".

I further certify that I have translated the enclosed document entitled [TITLE OF THE DOCUMENT] from [ORIGINAL LANGUAGE] to English and that the translation is complete, true, and accurate to the best of my knowledge.

Short text from the Russian templates

I, [full name], certify that I am familiar with the Russian and English languages, and I have translated this document faithfully and accurately.
