EB-1A is assessed in two stages: first the formal criteria (3 of 10 needed), then a final assessment of the whole. Below you can see how often each criterion was counted and how rarely that led to passing the final assessment.

Concretely: 510 cases never reached the final-merits stage (not enough criteria), while 699 reached it - and were still denied there. That is the answer to “I have 3 criteria”: criteria are only the gate; the whole picture decides.

    Are these EB-1A approval odds?

    No. These are AAO appeal decisions - mostly denials and remands (80% dismissed). You cannot use them to compute an overall visa approval rate. This is a base for learning from real denial reasons and seeing which criteria are assessed and how.

    Where does the data come from?

    3000+ public decisions of the USCIS Administrative Appeals Office (AAO) on EB-1A for 2020-2025 (the base is continuously updated). The data is anonymized and contains no personal information.

    Why does meeting the criteria not guarantee approval?

    EB-1A is assessed in two stages: first the formal criteria are counted (at least 3 of 10), then a final assessment of the totality (final merits). Applicants often meet 3+ criteria but lose at the final assessment. The base shows this clearly for each criterion.
