From community practice
Premium processing speeds up adjudication but does not raise the chance of approval - the community repeats this constantly: evidence quality decides, not speed.
An RFE is not a denial. Members note that a structured response with additional independent evidence often leads to approval.
A strong petition usually meets more than the required minimum of three criteria, with a margin on each - common advice in chats to reduce RFE risk.

From community discussions
«In addition to the above, you can also add that when you are forming your case, choose one direction where all your achievements will be listed. If you are a marketer, then list all achievements related to marketing and nothing else. Don't mix in 'for the overall picture' things like fashion design and other unrelated fields if they do not characterize you as a great marketer, for example.»

«I had personal publications in Forbes and other media about data-driven marketing. I think it also played a role that I was a mentor in the US Department of State's GoMentor program for data-driven marketing. Plus, I taught MBA students for one semester.»

«Yes, of course, you can gather something. I'm amused by the very fact of checking whether the publication was done with a publicist or without. Since I used to be a publicist myself, it sounds very strange to me — if a person is talented in their field, it makes sense that a separate specialist handles their promotion. Imagine being a chess player and also a publicist for yourself.»

«There are publicists in this chat, they help with articles, right? I didn't know any before. They gave me a whole list of publicists, I called them and chose the best one. Then they published all my articles over the course of a month (the ones about me). I'm not talking about scientific ones, since I have a PhD and about 20 scientific articles, including in VAK journals.»

Which criteria this field actually closes
- Articles about the specialist and their work in the media are one of the most buildable criteria for marketing, but materials with independent editorial selection, analysis of contribution, and a link to the market work better than an obvious paid PR package.
- A leading or critical role in organizations and projects is realistic for marketing, PR, performance, influencer marketing, brand strategy, communications agencies, and product marketing leaders, if you can show impact on business results.
- Original contributions of significant value can be shown through methodologies, campaigns, tools, research, growth approaches, AI/MarTech solutions that are actually used by companies, agencies, or clients and deliver measurable results.
- Judging or evaluating the work of others can be shown through participation on judging panels for marketing competitions, expert councils, accelerators, case evaluations, startup mentoring, or selection of participants in professional programs.
For marketing, you often have to combine several types of evidence because the field itself is seen as commercial and requires a clear separation of the specialist's personal contribution from the result of the team, brand, or client.

What works in this field and where cases stumble
- Leading-role: leadership roles in notable companies or projects with measurable business impact
- Judging: participation on juries for awards, accelerators, competitions, and expert panels
- Media: industry publications about the applicant, if they are independent and focused on his or her personal contribution
- Authorship: articles, columns, studies, and expert materials in recognized marketing media
Most often not counted
- Awards: local or corporate awards often do not prove national or international recognition
- Media: PR publications, interviews, and company mentions carry little weight as media about the applicant
- Original-contribution: it is difficult to prove that a marketing contribution was original and substantially impacted the industry
- Membership: ordinary paid or open memberships do not confirm outstanding achievements

Where people go wrong - from the chats
- mistakeAwards must be recognized in the professional marketing community to increase your chances for the visa.
- mistakeErrors in the petition can lead to denial or delays in the process.
- mistakeAn insufficient position may negatively affect the perception of your role in the petition.
- mistakeThey did not show that the award is industry-specific rather than internal, which reduces its significance for the petition.
Myths and reality
Misconception: A common misconception is that major media status has a universal minimum circulation, traffic level, or subscriber count, and that any interview on a popular website, YouTube channel, blog, or specialized online publication automatically satisfies the criterion.
In reality: In practice, they evaluate not one metric, but the totality of the evidence: the outlet's reputation, reach, editorial independence, target audience, recognition in the field or among the general public, the presence of editorial selection, and whether the material is actually a publication about the applicant and the applicant's professional achievements. A specialized media outlet with good traffic can strengthen a case, but it is not always sufficient by itself for a separate criterion. Small blogs, personal channels, promotional publications, paid membership platforms, and materials without independent editorial weight are usually weaker.
Rules and tips from the chats
- tipFor self-employed professionals, bloggers, and content creators, it is important to present income sources, audience, geography of influence, and professional significance effectively, since the absence of a traditional employer by itself does not rule out a strong case.
