Key answer
Community cases are a board where you can see how other applicants are doing: visa category, field, and current status, all anonymously with masked case numbers. You manage your own case separately. Your case appears on the board only if you choose to add it.
When to Use It
When it feels like your case is taking longer than everyone else's. The board shows that RFEs, delayed processing, and administrative checks are a common part of the process, not a sign that something is wrong with your case.
How to Use It
Open the board - the entries are visible right away, no registration needed. To add your case, create it in the "My Case" command center and press the join cohort button on the board: your card will appear anonymously with only category and field shown. You can leave with the same switch. If you specify your field in your profile, the board will also show how many people in the cohort work in the same area.
Why This Matters
The board is a voluntary sample, not a statistical set: it includes only those who agreed to show their case. Do not use it to estimate probabilities. Get official timelines from the USCIS and State Department calculators, and see a detailed breakdown by stages in the article on real timelines.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you see on the case board?
Anonymous entries: visa category, field, and status - submitted, under review, forwarded, RFE, interview, approved, or denied, plus the last time the card was updated. Case numbers are masked and no names or contacts appear.
Will my case appear there automatically?
No. You manage your case in the My Case command center, and it is added to the public board only after you click join. You can leave the cohort with the same toggle.
Why look at other people's cases at all?
To understand that your experience is not unique: RFEs, extended reviews, and administrative processing are common. This can ease some anxiety and help you realistically assess your own timeline.
Is the board actual statistics?
No. This is a voluntary sample of those who agreed to share their case, not a representative dataset. For official timelines, check the USCIS and Department of State calculators.

From community discussions
«And revenue across all states is also not national importance, just like jobs. For some reason everyone thinks that creating 10-20-50 jobs is national importance. It's not. Your project should affect job creation or employment in general, for example, your project helps job seekers find work and reduces unemployment.»

«Then immediately write a request to expedite with a one-page letter. The request should come from the inviting organization, to the Department of State, on why your talk and presence in person are so extremely important. And it's good if they say that a hybrid format is impossible. Additionally you can make a request through a senator/state representative.»
